Picture says it all… The food was too good to wait and take a picture. If you want to enjoy some great authentic Italian food look no further; this is the spot! Hospitality is beyond amazing, Fabio & Claire are just lovely as well as everyone who is working with them to make the evening one of a kind. We would come here again anytime!! 🙌🏻

Urged to leave this review; as the tables next us said if they had this experience “they would not be paying”. Sat down, excited to try this new Italian, in our hometown. Owner(husband) took our order, prawn pil pil (gorgeous food compliments to the chef). Then waiter 1 hour and 35 mins for a lasagne and pizza. (We did not complain). However. Lasagne served had no meat at all. The waiter (son) lovely waiter, super nice and polite, said he would not charge for the mains as he said we were waiting way too long. The owner and wife returned as we were about to pay; the son ran over and said I’m sorry “they” won’t allow me to not charge for the mains. The tables beside us were in shock. I said absolutely no problem but I would like to chat about why this was. The wife was looking me up and down and saying stuff under her breath it was so intimidating. I said please can we just pay and leave, and she muttered under her breath again, it was a horrible experience. We are two quiet people, who don’t drink.

We walked out actually shocked, they did say “oh the oven was busy, oh maybe we should have sat inside” but there was 2 tables of four that came in while we sat there. I can’t explain how embarrassing this was for us.

I’m actually disgusted. Feeling hugely sorry for the very quiet lovely son they have. I hope this review is not deleted.

In reply to reply from business
I Paddy Didnt finish my pizza
The person didn't finish the steak
The other pizza wasn't finished
The lasagne wasn't finished
The pasta was returned as received.
I stand by my review as a true and accurate reflection of my personal experience.

We were booked in as part of a group and were welcomed well by the host and hostess (owners we believe) but from then on no one in the group really had anything positive to say.
Host and hostess very loud as in calling from table to table instead of maybe getting closer to who they talking too including eachother, we could see it was a small place but not everyone needs to know about who we are, where we from, how much we paid for our purchase and what were we doing in Kilkenny.
Food
We got a 10 minute lesson on the menu by the host and told every dish was excellent and let's be fair, we were not going to be told by the host not to order something as it's not good so to us that was more time just unnecessary and we would have asked if we needed the menu explained to us.
Between us we had pizzas, spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, pasta and steak so got a good try of the menu and no one praised anything
Bottom of the pizzas were very well done
Lasagnes were luke warm and bland and it was a piece of lasagne and no garnish, salad or anything.
Spaghetti was like trying to eat a rubber band, tough and stringy and very little meat for the price you pay.
Pasta was tough and again little meat with it.
Steak was chopped up as if for a child which we all found very strange as the person that ordered it was 70 so he wasn't sure was it they thought he might choke or couldn't thrust him with a sharp knife and said it was tasteless.
When it came to the bill the host forgot that a deposit was paid on booking the table and after the host was paid the bill, the host came to the table and shouted down to the person that paid, again where everyone in the restaurant could hear, "you will have to put that through again as it didn't go through" and he was waving a card machine in the air until he was politly told that he was paid in cash.
Overall was not an experience I would want anyone else to have and none of us are going back for seconds and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Response from the owner

Hi Busmanpaddy,

We take feedback seriously, but it is important that it reflects what actually took place.

Your group ordered widely across the menu and every dish was returned cleared, including the steak, which Paddy finished completely. That does not align with the level of dissatisfaction described here.

For clarity, the steak is served as tagliata, a traditional Italian preparation where it is sliced before serving. This is intentional and standard.

In terms of atmosphere, we are a lively trattoria, and that energy is something many of our guests come for and enjoy. It may not suit everyone, but it is very much part of our identity.

Your table was also quite reserved, and our intention in engaging was simply to make you feel welcome, never to intrude.

Regarding the payment, this was a brief clarification with the younger gentleman who settled the bill and had nothing to do with Paddy. It was handled quickly and without issue.

Everyone is entitled to leave a review, of course, but comments on traditional Italian dishes and service standards should at least be grounded in an accurate understanding of what was actually served and what took place on the night.

We stand fully behind our food and service as evidenced from all other reviews, and while we respect all feedback, this review does not reflect the reality of the experience.
